The ship crashed on April 19, 1983 on the reef of Abu Nuhas in the Red Sea, off the Egyptian coast near Hurghada in the governorate of al-Bahr al-ahmar . It was on the way from Rijeka in present-day Croatia via Jeddah in Saudi Arabia to al-Hudaida in Yemen with a load of wood on board. [3] On April 19, 1983, the ship was from the Suez Canal Coming in the Strait of Gubal, a fairly narrow fairway before reaching the open waters of the Red Sea. Due to a navigation error, it deviated from the planned course and rammed the reef of Abu Nuhas at full speed. The ship remained badly damaged on the reef roof, the crew was able to escape to the nearby island of Shadwan . The wreck was tied to the reef with lines and partly removed until it finally broke up in a storm and sank. [
